Wow. A friend just shared this with me. I had never heard it before. Thank you Major, both for YOUR service, and for thinking of us old guys in such a touching way. I was a K-9 handler in 'Nam. When I came home, my parents had moved to a different city where I knew nobody. Besides the overt hostility and/or fearful reactions we got, I always could identify with the old Doors song, "People Are Strange". But I also must say that over the past 2 decades, people have been so kind and sympathetic about how we were originally treated. There were warm and caring people both then and now. But it sure does SEEM like a lot more now. Thanks again...

I absolutely cannot imagine the feeling of being in a chopper while you have no idea what's being shot at you on the ground and have no control of your life in those moments.. insane!
